Scotland announce June friendly double header in preparation for World Cup qualifying campaign

Scotland have confirmed they will play a friendly double header against Iceland and Liechtenstein next June in preparation for the start of the World Cup 2026 qualifying campaign.

Steve Clarke's men will welcome Iceland to Hampden on Friday, June 6 before travelling to Vaduz to face Liechtenstein three days later on Monday, June 9.

The two friendlies will give the Scots extra preparation ahead of their bid to reach the finals of the World Cup in North America in 18 months time.

Scotland have been drawn in Group C along with Greece, Belarus and the loser of the Nations League quarter-final clash between Denmark and Portugal as they aim to end a 28-year-long wait to appear at the World Cup finals.However, before that, Clarke's team also face Greece in their own crucial two-legged tie in order to stay in the top tier of the Nations League.
