Parents are holding on extra tight to their little ones during the school run after a young girl was hit by a truck on her way home earlier this week.
Police say that the seven-year-old victim suffered life-changing injuries after she was struck by a heavy goods vehicle near Knop Law Primary Schoo l in Chaple house, Newcastle.
