In 2016 the National R&B Music Society gave Sarah the Lifetime Achievement Award. LaBelle's iconic tune Lady Marmalade was released in 1974, with its catchy chorus "voulez-vous coucher avec moi (ce soir)?" now world famous.
The song was later covered by Christina Aguilera, Pink, Lil' Kim and Mya in 2001 for the film Moulin Rouge! released the same year.LaBelle cofounder Patti LaBelle said in a statement on Billboard: "We were just onstage together on Saturday [September 18] and it was such a powerful and special moment."Sarah.
