Samantha Womack has addressed a return for her character Ronnie Mitchell on EastEnders – almost six years since she drowned trying to save her sister, Roxy, who also perished.

The 50 year old actress, who recently got the all-clear from breast cancer, appeared on ITV's Good Morning Britain on Wednesday where she discussed her former co-star Rita Simons' recent return to the soap as Roxy – albeit in her daughter Amy's imagination.

Rita recently appeared on GMB, where she said: "All I can say is I've left it so the fans finally understand Roxy may not be dead so in the future who knows, but right now, I'm really having a lovely time, not there, and potentially going somewhere else." When asked about Rita's comments that there could possibly be a comeback on the square, Samantha didn't rule out a return to the show.

Speaking to Ed Balls and Susanna Reid, Samantha said: "I love her [Rita's] positivity. "We were seen at the end of the episode floating quite lifelessly in the pool. "But I like her positivity." Showing her support for her on-screen sister, Samantha said she was "definitely going to watch" Rita's EastEnders comeback.
