Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe look back on filming Outlander's explosive 'Death Be Not Proud'

Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe and other members of the Outlander family promised fans an "explosive" seventh season - and that's exactly what they've recieved so far.In the second episode of the new season - titled 'The Happiest Place on Earth' - Wendigo's ill-fated strike of a match causes Claire and Jamie's home on the Ridge to burst into flames ending in a shock cliffhanger.In the most recent episode 'Death Be Not Proud' it's revealed Claire and Jamie Fraser, played by Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan, made it out of the blaze by the skin of their teeth.Sam, who has played Jamie Fraser since 2014 told Town and Country mag: "I quite enjoyed the little run and jump."Catriona added they "didn't let us do it too many times" noting that over the years, the pair have gotten to do less and less of the more dangerous stunt work."I think back in season one we used to do a lot more probably because it was a smaller show and they didn't have as much money," she said."It's always really fun when you get to do something like that, but it's always very well-prepared and planned and very safe."However, whilst the stunt work was fun for the pair, they both agreed it was a bittersweet day behind the cameras."It was sad to see the house go up in flames metaphorically and physically.

It's the end of their home and for Jamie and Claire, it really displaces them and begins the next chapter in their lives," Heughan says.Executive Producer Maril Davis explained: "We wanted it to be pretty spectacular."We needed to wait to film that until we were sure we didn't need anything else because that house wasn't coming back.
