Detectives are this afternoon questioning a man on suspicion of murder after human remains were found in a Salford nature reserve.
It's an important development in an case which has caused shock and horror since the grisly discovery was made on Thursday afternoon (April 6). Emergency services were first called to Kersal Wetlands at 5.50pm on Thursday when a member of the public discovered an 'unknown item' wrapped in plastic near Radford Street.
Tests later confirmed the item was human remains, understood to be part of a torso. Police said it was 'not possible for the victim to have survived' so a murder probe was launched by the Major Incident Team. At this stage neither the age or gender of the person was known, but police were confident it was not a child. The news caused shock in the community.
