Horrified neighbours have spoken of their shock after the remains of a 'young' baby were uncovered at a house in Wigan. Investigations are underway at a home on Marsh Green following the grim find in the wake of a call police from 'a partner agency'.

Forensics have been working on the scene for several days following the 'heartbreaking' discovery. Neighbours described the news as 'horrible'.

Speaking from the scene on Saturday afternoon, one person told the Manchester Evening News: "I've lived here for seven years and I've never seen anything like this happen. "We've got kids.

It's horrible." Another neighbour said: "Of all the places for this to happen, you don’t expect it right on your doorstep." One resident said police had been on the scene on Marsh Green since Wednesday.
