Customers who switched to Sainsbury's to take advantage of its Aldi "price match" may have been overcharged, after an investigation found the grocer raised prices to deliver the discount.
Items including tinned vegetables, ice cream and even fruit were marked up earlier this month when the promotion went live, comparison website The Grocer found.
Sainsbury's introduced its Aldi price match on 250 products on February 10, 2021. But the investigation found eight products became more expensive as the price pledge was confirmed.
