Perth and Kinross have been issued a safety warning after a woman had to be rescued off Ben Chonzie last week. Jess Smith, who lives at the base of the popular Munro, witnessed the rescue unfolding.
She’s surprised that more people haven’t been getting into trouble in the hills as the past year has seen crowds flocking to Glen Lednock to enjoy the Strath scenery. Perth and Kinross councillor concerned at decline in rural farm work due to “sheer lack of opportunity” Jess said that in a normal year, there are usually around five or six cars parked up but during the pandemic she has seen over 100 cars arrive in one day.Experienced hill walker Jess, who along with husband Dave, has over 200 Munros under her belt, knows all too well the dangers.
