Ryanair has issued a warning to all passengers with black, navy or grey suitcases, each of which are common choices among holidaymakers.

The budget airline, competing with the likes of easyJet, TUI, and Jet2, has issued a warning to anybody with a suitcase of this description. “Make it easier to spot your checked-in luggage on the carousel, especially if your luggage is black, navy or grey (like 99.9 percent of the population),” Ryanair said. “Add a colourful luggage tag or ribbon to the handle so that there’s no confusion on arrival.” For those in the market for new, easily identifiable luggage, Antler offers a range of cabin bags in various colours, many of which are discounted in the brand’s summer sale, including an option in mist blue.

Lulu Guinness has also discounted its luggage, including this Carry-On case that’s sure to stand out on the baggage carousel and fits in the overhead cabin space of most major airlines including Ryanair and easyJet. It's worth noting they won't be as effective as a more brightly coloured suitcase, though. Additionally, Ryanair recommends that travellers make copies of their passport, driving licence, and/or ID card, emailing them to themselves.
