The Loose Women star rescued Maggie several years ago from the Dogs Trust alongside ex-husband Eamonn Holmes. Ruth regularly shares updates on their sweet pet pooch following confirmation of their split last spring.
In her latest social media update, the presenter confirmed that Maggie had been in an accident and that Sunday (February 2) was the first day she was able to take her for a short stroll for the first time in a week.
Alongside a video of the limping animal out in the garden, Ruth explained: "So last Monday Maggie jumped off the sofa when we were visiting my Mum and hurt her back leg….she couldn’t walk at all.
