Time is running out for Manchester United and their Premier League rivals to strengthen their squads ahead of the January transfer window slamming shut at 11pm this evening.
Despite being keen on adding a holding midfielder to their ranks at the start of the month, United have not added any new faces to the squad — and that is not expected to change before the bell sounds.
Instead, United's deadline day work is set to centre around several loan departures, featuring Donny van de Beek's expected move to Everton and the prospect of Dean Henderson and Jesse Lingard also heading out on temporary deals, one of them to Newcastle.
However, the chances of United adding to their squad today are somewhat slim, even though nothing can be ruled out on deadline day.
