Roy Keane gave his nod of approval to Casemiro for confronting Bruno Fernandes over his decision to not pass to Jadon Sancho while on a promising breakaway late on in Manchester United’s Carabao Cup final 2-0 win over Newcastle.
With the Magpies pressing for a goal in the third minute of stoppage time, United countered with Fernandes who had Sancho unmarked out wide when approaching the penalty area.
He elected against passing and tried to fire past debutant goalkeeper Loris Karius, only for the shot-stopper to palm the ball over.
The phase was ultimately insignificant with the full-time whistle blowing a few minutes later but, amid the initial celebrations of the win, Casemiro reprimanded his teammate over his failure to pass.
