Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes sent a message to his former Sporting Lisbon teammates after they defeated Arsenal to progress to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
The Gunners, who drew 2-2 with the Portuguese side at the Emirates in the first leg, appeared to be on their way to to the quarter finals after Granit Xhaka gave them the lead, but Pedro Goncalves equalised with a sensational effort from the half-way line.
Neither team was able to find a winner in normal time or extra-time, with the clash going all the way to penalties. It was the away side who triumphed in the shootout, with Gabriel Martinelli seeing his penalty saved as Sporting sealed their progression to the last-eight of the competition. After the game, Fernandes was keen to celebrate United's victory, but also congratulate his former teammates. Fernandes reached out to Sporting midfielder midfielder Goncalves on Instagram to praise him his incredible goal.
