Jazz funk icon Roy Ayers and dub legend Mad Professor will head up the Blues Kitchen’s spring line-up. The Quay Street venue has just released details of its forthcoming live shows, taking place in its Concert Hall room.
Ayers, the man behind Everybody Loves The Sunshine and Running Away, will return to Manchester on May 25, for his first show since 2019, when he played two sell-out shows at the Band on the Wall.
May 5 will see a rare show from Detroit hip hop group Slum Village, as part of a brief three-date tour that will also see them at the Jazz Cafe in London.
Prior to that, there will be a night of angular krautrock from the iconic German band Amon Düül II on March 16. Local talent will also be at the forefront of the venue’s spring programme too, with Untold Orchestra and Lovescene also on the bill.
