Buildings were damaged and transport widely disrupted as Storm Eowyn's gale-force winds hit Greater Manchester today (January 24).

Roofs were blown off, trees came down and trains, trams and flights were all cancelled as conditions created chaos across the region.

An amber weather warning for wind was in effect until 9pm on Friday. By 8am wind speeds were said to have exceeded 50mph and and later topped 60mph in some areas.

It saw a number of buildings become damaged. A home in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport saw its roof blown off. A cordon was put in place and local businesses were closed for a short while as crews dealt with the debris that was being flung onto oncoming traffic on Hulme Hall Lane.
