Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; born 21 April 1926) is Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. Elizabeth was born in London, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and she was educated privately at home. Her father ascended the throne on the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the heir presumptive. She began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In 1947, she married Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, with whom she has four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

Roman Kemp reveals he suffered awkward moment with Duchess of Cambridge at Buckingham Palace after party

Roman Kemp may present to millions of listeners on a daily basis but the nerves got the better of him when he came face-to-face with the Duchess of Cambridge over the weekend.

The Capital FM host was busy co-hosting the Platinum Party at the Palace coverage on Saturday night (June 4). The epic musical event saw musical stars from throughout the decades take to a giant stage outside Buckingham Palace to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The big concert kicked off with Queen Elizabeth II having tea with Paddington in a surprise sketch filmed before the festivities.

Then, it was over to Queen and Adam Lambert to open to music extravaganza with the likes of Alicia Keys, Eurovision's Sam Ryder, Duran Duran with Nile Rogers and Diana Ross taking to the stage in front of a whole host of royal guests - including the Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - as well as thousands lining the Mall and millions more watching around the world. "What I can't believe is at an after party at Buckingham Palace, I'm going to say this," the 29-year-old said. "They turned the lights on to make everyone leave, that's the funny thing."
