Roman Kemp in tears as he takes on huge new role after shock Capital exit

Roman Kempmay be leaving the Capital Breakfast Show, but the radio presenter is taking on a huge TV gig with The Brit Awards 2024.The radio DJ will be hosting alongside Love Island ’s Maya Jama and BBC Radio 1's Clara Amfo.

However, Roman has admitted that he was so thrilled to be asked to host, he burst into tears when given the offer. "When they told me, I cried,” Roman said. “The BRITs has always been on this pedestal for me, because in terms of excitement in the UK there is nothing like it.” Roman even turned to former hosts Ant and Dec for advice - and learnt that he has his work cut out for him. "They said it was the hardest show they’d ever had to do," he said. "But there’s a masochist side to me that really wants to experience that.That’s what it’s about; putting your head above the parapet sometimes and if it scares you, that’s good." Roman announced earlier this month that he was leaving the Capital Breakfast show after 10 years at the station.The 31-year-old said that it had been a "massive" decision but that he knew it was "time to leave".

This year will see the likes of Dua Lipa, Blur, Calvin Harris, Taylor Swift and Maya’s boyfriend Stormzy fight for BRIT awards in their categories, while Jessie Ware, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo and The Rolling Stones are also up for gongs at this year's BRIT Awards.

Performing on the night will be Kylie Minogue, RAYE and Becky Hill, while US pop star Tate McRae will be stopping by to grace the BRITs stage.
