Secret soldier. Robert F. Kennedy’s grandson Conor Kennedy revealed that he volunteered to fight in the Ukraine war and was “willing to die there.”“Like many people, I was deeply moved by what I saw happening in Ukraine over the past year.
I wanted to help,” the New York native, 28, wrote in a lengthy Instagram post on October 14. “When I heard about Ukraine’s International Legion, I knew I was going, and I went to the embassy to enlist the next day.”Conor shared that he only told one person about his decision to serve and only told one person his real name while overseas.
Conor is the son of radio host, activist and environmental lawyer Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. His mother, Mary Kennedy, died by suicide in 2012.
His grandfather was a former U.S. Senator and Attorney General.“I didn’t want my family or friends to worry, and I didn’t want to be treated differently there,” he added. “Going in, I had no prior military experience and wasn’t a great shot, but I could carry heavy things and learned fast.”Even though the American did not have any prior experience serving, he was sent to the northeastern front.
