Robbie Williams had been with his Take That bandmates since the very start. But 25 years ago today the then 21-year-old was told to leave Britain's biggest boyband after Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Howard Donald became frustrated with his hard partying.
It was a blow to teenage girls all over Britain but the Take That boys continued as a four piece without the cheeky chappie from Stoke.
Robbie was just 16 when he joined the five-piece band and while he cemented his reputation as the joker of the group, the teenager was struggling with fame.
He has since admitted he felt frustrated with his lack of creative input into Take That. He felt his musical ideas - he favoured rap and hip hop rather than pure pop - were being dismissed
