Balmaghie Lifeboat Guild held an extremely successful Soup and Sweet lunch recently, raising £800 for the new RNLI Kirkcudbright boathouse.Huge support and a massive team effort made the event, which was held in Balmaghie Public Hall, very successful and the hall looked very jolly with beautifully laid out tables, decorated with lifeboat flags and bunting. The array of food was mouth-watering and the smiling, hard working team of glamorous waitresses was backed up by the efficient kitchen workers who produced an endless supply of clean cups and plates.Hilary Phillip had no difficulty in persuading kind businesses to provide generous prizes for the raffle and organisers are very grateful for this local support.RNLI Kirkcudbright crew member, Betsey Jameson, gave an update on the fundraising for the lifeboat station and why it is so important for the crew to have somewhere warm and dry and with indoor facilities to change before and after going out to sea.Betsey went on to thank everyone and expressed how much it means to them to see the local support offered.
