Rita Ora has said she was “lonely and had given up on love” before finding her now husband Taika Waititi. The couple started dating in 2021, when Rita was in Australia to appear on the local version of The Voice, and connected with New Zealand born film director Taika.
A whirlwind romance occurred, with the couple marrying in a secret ceremony in January this year. However, before the couple fell for each other, Rita says she struggled watching friends get married, while wondering if it would ever happen for her.
Speaking about how she felt in a new interview about her new album You&I - which features her husband on the album artwork - Rita, 32, said she’d almost “given up” on meeting someone and felt left out compared to some of her friends.
She told The Sun: “A couple of my friends had been like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m pregnant’ or ‘Oh gosh, I’m getting married’. Life is happening and everyone is getting older and I felt like it was something that is very relatable. “People think, ‘Oh well, what about me?’ I thought it was a vulnerable and insightful position for me.
