Former Rangers hero Rino Gattuso has revealed he put his Ibrox teammate Paul Gascoigne under the microscope - and realised he would have to do the opposite to make it as a star player.
The World Cup winner but was brought to Ibrox by Walter Smith in 1997 before he was shipped out to Salernitana a year later in a £4million deal by Dick Advocaat with the Dutchman deciding the Italian wasn't part of his plans.
He would go on to move to AC Milan and claim two Champions Leagues victories, as well as lifting two Serie A titles and that 2006 World Cup with his country.Gattuso, who is currently manager at Valencia, has revealed working with England hero Gascoigne during his 12 month spell at Ibrox changed his outlook on the game and set him on the path to success.
He said: "Meeting Paul Gascoigne at Rangers would turn out to be an important moment in my life. "When I left Italy at 17, I knew I wouldn't be returning home.
