Residents told to keep away after flag pole snaps on top of Greater Manchester church

Locals have been told to avoid a church after a flagpole on top of the building snapped during Storm Darragh. According to bosses at St Bartholomew’s Parish Church in Westhoughton, the pole remains on top of the establishment but is hanging over the walkway.

Residents have been asked to avoid the building on School Street until it can be safely removed. The church took to social media to alert people and said: "Warning, the flag pole has snapped and is over hanging the walkway at the base of the tower.
