Big plans are in the works for the borough of Wigan in 2025. A Hilton hotel, an entertainment hub and a modern civic centre are all earmarked for the town next year.
And as part of the Places for Everyone (PfE) strategic development plan for Greater Manchester, Wigan has been set a target to allow more than 1,126 homes to be built a year - some of those on what was Green Belt land.
Here’s what to expect in 2025. Pocket Nook Farm, Lowton There were signs of friction ahead when in March, councillors dismissed claims that a development of 236 homes following the demolition of buildings at Lower Pocket Nook Farm were not needed.
The planning committee approved the Morris Homes development which would be ratified later in the month.
