Boxing Day is here, giving us a whole 24 hours to recover from the festivities of Christmas. How the day is spent varies from person to person, for every individual hitting up the sales in the shops, there’s someone else planning to stay at home in front of the TV.
But many will be eschewing the Boxing Day sales and Christmas films in favour for a popular tradition: stepping out for a Boxing Day walk.
After yesterday’s eating and drinking, heading out for a stroll in the fresh air can be delightful. While there’s dozens of walks across Greater Manchester to choose from, if you fancy a longer hike through beautiful countryside, we’ve got you covered.
Less than an hour’s drive from Greater Manchester, Macclesfield Forest is an excellent spot for a woodland walk. It’s around three miles south of Macclesfield and straddles the edge of the Peak District National Park.
