Residents in a south Manchester street were told to 'stay quiet and not look out of the window' after a gunman opened fire outside their home.

Police are hunting a gunman after shots were fired in Albert Road, Levenshulme, at around 12am today (Saturday). In the run-up to the 'targeted' shooting, police say a vehicle was damaged by two males - one of whom was armed with a suspected gun.

Officers said the males were then seen chasing a third male, believed to be aged in his 20s. No arrests have been made and no injuries have been reported. "She heard a lot of arguing and cars honking then the popping sound of the gun," the woman added. "That went two or three times then they ran off. "I called the police and the woman on the phone told us to stay quiet and not look out of the window.

It was scary. "You don't really think of that happening in this area. It's usually safer than other areas of Manchester."
