Residents in soon-to-be demolished Ayr high rise flats complain of freezing temperatures

Ayr's Riverside high rise flats have said they are 'freezing' during the cold snap as they remain among the few residents still living in the tower blocks.The decision was taken by South Ayrshire Council in June 2019 to demolish the three multi-storey blocks – each containing 78-one-bed properties – and build a new development on the Riverside Place site.More than half of residents have since vacated and been rehomed, leaving 'cold voids' between current occupants.

One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “It’s absolutely freezing.“I go to my bed with a onesie on, two pairs of socks, a dressing gown, two duvets and a hat.“Even the housing officer, who’s dealing with the moving of residents, agreed it’s cold.“I’ve got the heaters.
