Remembrance Sunday will be marked in North Lanarkshire with major events in Coatbridge and Motherwell plus further ceremonies in towns and villages across the area.Coatbridge will host the main ceremony for Monklands – which alternates each year between the town and neighbouring Airdrie – with the event at the war memorial on Bank Street beginning at 10.45am.Wreaths will also be laid at the Airdrie cenotaph at 11am on the same day; with local dignitaries, politicians, veterans, military and civic representatives plus community groups and residents set to gather in numbers at each.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Members of the Royal British Legion Scotland will also hold an event on the same day at Cumbernauld Village Cenotaph at 10.45am; while further acts of remembrance are set to take place at 60 local war memorials in towns and villages all over both North and South Lanarkshire.Lord lieutenant of Lanarkshire, Lady Susan Haughey CBE, and her deputies and representatives plan to attend as many as 60 wreath-laying ceremonies across the county, remembering and honouring the fallen of both World Wars and other conflicts.
