EXCLUSIVE: Sources tell us that Regal Theatres VP and Head of Film Andrew Turner is exiting the No. 2 U.S.
chain. Though the UK native and 35-year film industry distribution/exhibition vet was in the role for two years, several execs at studios have reached out to tell us how upset they are about Turner’s departure.
Turner made a big impression during his run at Regal with his passion for theatrical. While at Regal, Turner launched the chain’s Monday Mystery Movie which features early screenings of studio releases for $5 per ticket across the circuit nationwide.
The Regal event typically brings in around a hearty 30K admissions in any given Monday, a big boost for concessions. The Monday Mystery Movie has hosted such screenings as Sony’s Gran Turismo and Lionsgate’s Sisu.
