King Charles and Queen Camilla wanted Kate Middleton to change the way she spelt her name when she joined the Royal Family, Prince Harry claimed.
The Duke of Sussex said his father and stepmother wanted the Princess of Wales to spell her first name Catherine with a K because there were already too many first names in the family beginning with a C.
Charles and Camilla were apparently concerned that too many names beginning with the same letter would cause confusion, especially when it came to their cyphers – the personal monogram of a member of the Royal Family.
At the time, Charles, Camilla and Catherine would have all used the single letter ‘C’. In his memoir Spare, Harry wrote: "There were already two royal cyphers with a C and a crown above: Charles and Camilla.
