Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount visited a specialist on Wednesday to determine the extent of his latest injury. Mount was forced off in the 14th minute of Manchester United's 2-1 victory at City on Sunday with the third separate injury he has sustained this season.

Since Mount moved to United from Chelsea for £60million in July 2023, he has played in 33 out of a possible 77 matches due to suffering seven separate injuries.

The 25-year-old appeared crestfallen as he trudged off at the Etihad and six teammates consoled Mount on his way to the touchline.

The England international will not be available for United's League Cup quarter-final against Tottenham on Thursday night and the club are waiting to discover the severity of the injury.
