Rangers have announced they will donate £72,000 to support people affected by the war in Ukraine. Donations have been made by first-team players of the men's and women's sides, management and club directors.

The total is expected to rise after the addition of Gift Aid and comes after the Rangers Charity Foundation gave £15,000 to the UNICEF Ukraine Emergency Appeal earlier this month.

The club's charity foundation gift will be split between UNICEF's Ukraine Emergency Appeal and DEC's Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal.Manager Giovanni Van Bronckhorst said: "The management staff and players were all extremely keen to support the Ukraine Appeal in any way we could."The conflict is causing so much hurt to so many people who are losing loved ones, fleeing their homes and trying to find safety."We hope that by donating some of our wages from March, we can play a small part in the wider efforts of helping the people most affected."Gers captain James Tavernier added: "As a squad we believed it was important to do what we can to help support the many children and their families that are in need in Ukraine."An unimaginable number of people are being affected by this conflict and it is crucial that services continue to be available to them when they need them most."We are fortunate to be in a position to be able to support this appeal and hope it can go a small way in allowing these charities to continue their vital work."Women and Girls Football Manager, Amy McDonald, said: "I am very proud that the players, staff and directors have united to help those in need."The women's team were very keen to commit and support this important cause.
