John Barnes believes Ralf Rangnick's consultancy role at Manchester United is secure no matter his performance as interim manager.
The German manager arrived on a six-month contract to succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer until the end of the season, before taking up a two-year backroom consultancy role come the summer.
It has been a difficult couple of months for Rangnick as the squad have laboured to results with similarly uninspired performances which plagued Solskjaer's final months in charge.
But former England international Barnes says Rangnick's move upstairs at Old Trafford will not be troubled by the players' showings on the pitch this term. “Manchester United have already said that Rangnick is coming to Manchester United to be a consultant, and be steadying the ship as interim before a new manager comes in," he told BonusCodeBets.
