Ralf Little might be riding high on the BBC’s biggest prime time drama series, but he is surprised it took him 20 years to land a leading TV role.
The actor has been enjoying rave reviews as Det Insp Neville Parker in Death in Paradise, which is set in the Caribbean and is watched by more than nine million people each week.
But the 40-year-old thinks he missed out on other work – maybe even roles in Hollywood – because of his stint as put-upon Antony Royle in BBC sitcom The Royle Family.
Ironically, the show, for which he abandoned his medical studies and which ran for three series from 1998 to 2000, gave him his big break.
