Rain didn’t stop play in Annan on Saturday with crowds in their thousands enjoying the gala parade and evening massed pipe bands.

More than 100 horses and riders joined Cornet Ewan Murray, Lass Kirstin Kerr and Standard Bearer Jenny Park in the morning boundary riding, honouring centuries of traditions.

It culminated in a spectacular gala parade on the High Street, led by the royal float of the 75th Queen of the Border, Macy Oliver and the public’s decorated floats, vehicles and walkers – including fancy dress winners – and pipe bands.

This was followed by an afternoon of family fun at the Annan Academy playing fields including the biggest piping competition in south west Scotland.
