Freddie Mercury tragically died from illness associated with Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) in 1991 at just 45 years old.
Queen frontman Freddie chose to keep his illness under wraps, only revealing his diagnosis a day before his untimely death. Bandmate Brian May, who's back on TV in a quest to save our badgers with Brian May: The Badgers, The Farmers And Me, shared some heart-wrenching details about the severity of Freddie's battle with AIDS.
In an interview with The Sunday Times magazine, he shockingly revealed that Freddie's fight with the disease had resulted in the loss of his foot. "The problem was actually his foot - and, tragically there was very little left of it," he disclosed.
Brian recalled a dinner where Freddie showed them his foot, apologising for upsetting them. Brian responded, "Once, he showed it to us at dinner.
