Queen prepares to say farewell to Philip after 73 years with dignity and courage

The Queen released a touching image of herself relaxing with her beloved husband Prince Philip as she prepared to say farewell to him at Windsor Castle today.

The tender image showing her with the Duke of Edinburgh at the top of the Coyles of Muick hills on the Balmoral estate was taken by The Countess of Wessex in 2003.

A royal source said: “The cherished photograph is one of the Queen’s favourites and evokes many happy memories at one of their favourite places in the world.

She will miss her beloved Philip forever.” Her Majesty last month named a new corgi puppy Muick after the beauty spot where she spent many happy times with Philip, who died peacefully aged 99 on April 9.
