Charles, Prince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948) is the heir apparent to the British throne as the eldest son of Elizabeth II. He has been Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay since 1952, and he is the oldest and longest-serving heir apparent in British history.

He is also the longest-serving Prince of Wales, having held that title since 1958. Charles was born at Buckingham Palace as the first grandchild of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. He was educated at Cheam and Gordonstoun schools, which his father, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, had attended as a child. Charles also spent a year at the Timbertop campus of Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, Australia.

Queen arrives back at Windsor from Scotland before four day Platinum Jubilee celebrations

The Queen has returned to Windsor ahead of her four day Platinum Jubilee celebrations.The 96 year old monarch was seen returning to Windsor Castle in a green Range Rover as she prepares to celebrate 70 years on the throne, with one of her faithful corgis in the back seat.The Queen has spent the last few days at her Scottish home Balmoral, said to be one of her favourite places to visit, as staff busy themselves with preparations for the historic celebration.The four day Jubilee celebrations will begin on Thursday with a special Trooping of the Colour parade.The Epsom Derby will take place on Saturday 4 June, said to be a favourite of the Queens, although Her Majesty is not expected to attend in person as she celebrates Meghan and Harry's daughter Lilibet's first birthday.

Sunday will see a special Jubilee Pageant take place on Sunday to wrap up the four day-long festivities.The Queen is also set to meet her great-granddaughter Lillibet for the first time this week with Harry and Meghan jetting into London from California for the Jubilee celebrations.

However Harry and Meghan, along with Prince Andrew, will not be joining the Queen on the Royal Balcony when the Queen is set to delight royal fans by making an appearance during Trooping the Colour parade on Thursday.

She will be joined, however, by her three other children including her eldest son, Prince Charles, and his wife Camilla, as well as grandson Prince William and wife Kate, along with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
