Charles, Prince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948) is the heir apparent to the British throne as the eldest son of Elizabeth II. He has been Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay since 1952, and he is the oldest and longest-serving heir apparent in British history.
He is also the longest-serving Prince of Wales, having held that title since 1958. Charles was born at Buckingham Palace as the first grandchild of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. He was educated at Cheam and Gordonstoun schools, which his father, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, had attended as a child. Charles also spent a year at the Timbertop campus of Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, Australia.
Princess Beatrice wowed in a floral dress today as she attended Royal Ascot alongside her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, after the Queen pulled out of attending.
The 96 year old monarch has suffered with ongoing mobility issues in recent months, and today will mark the first time she has been absent from the annual horse racing event since she ascended the throne in 1952, except for when it was held privately in 2020 due to Covid.
Her Majesty was not present at much of the celebrations for her Platinum Jubilee, attending just two events and being represented at others by senior royals, including Prince Charles, Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton.
It is believed that she will be watching the races from home, as her horse King's Lynn races in the King's Stand Stakes at 3.40pm.
