Prince William declined to comment when asked if he supported his uncle Prince Andrew who is facing a civil trial over sexual assault allegations.
Despite his legal team's attempts to have the case dismissed, the Duke of York is set to face a civil trial concerning claims he sexually abused Virginia Giuffre when she was aged 17.
Andrew has always vehemently denied the accusation. And on Wednesday, while Prince William was leaving the Foundling Museum in London with his wife Kate Middleton, he was asked by a TV news crew member: "'Your Royal Highness, could I just ask, do you support Prince Andrew?'" Not being able to hear him at first, the 39 year old leaned forward to say, "Sorry, I can't hear you" - prompting the journalist to clarify: "Do you support Prince Andrew?
Have you spoken to him recently?" Prince William immediately smiled, stepped back and said a few inaudible words before mentioning: "Not today." He was then ushered along and was seen leaving the building. This news comes after Buckingham Palace released a statement saying that the Queen had stripped Prince Andrew of his military titles and patronages, meaning he would be on trial as a "private citizen." "With the Queen's approval and agreement, The Duke of York's military affiliations and Royal patronages have been returned to the Queen," the statement read. "The Duke of York will continue not to undertake any public duties and is defending this case as a private citizen." He will also stop using the title His Royal Highness in an official capacity.
