Prince William attends BBC BAFTA Awards solo as Kate recovers from surgery

Prince William arrived at tonight's BAFTA awards ceremony solo. His wife Kate Middleton was unable to attend the red carpet event as she continues to recover from surgery.It comes as the first high-profile engagement the Prince of Wales has had recently since Kate's abdominal surgery as she has been forced to suspend royal duties.

It had been believed he would miss the event, for which he is president. The senior royal attended the ceremony, which is being hosted by Scots star David Tennant this year, with wife Kate for the 2023 event last year.

She is currently at home in Windsor with their three children, according to the Mirror.William has been seen in the public spotlight very rarely since his wife's health issue and his dad King Charles' cancer diagnosis.

His estranged brother Harry flew over from the US in light of the news.The Duke of Sussex was slammed for a recent interview with Good Morning America where he spoke publicly about the monarch's illness as he was accused of attempting to use the opportunity to 'divert attention' back to himself.Prince Harry told the US daytime show that he 'loves his family' and hopes his father's cancer battle would have 'unifying effect' on them following his whirlwind trip to the UK to be at his father's side. “The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that,” said the Duke.
