Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known professionally as Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter, and television judge. After singing in church during her childhood, she pursued a career in gospel music as a teenager.
Perry signed with Red Hill Records and released her debut studio album Katy Hudson under her birth name in 2001, which was commercially unsuccessful. She moved to Los Angeles the following year to venture into secular music after Red Hill ceased operations and she subsequently began working with producers Glen Ballard, Dr. Luke, and Max Martin.
After adopting the stage name Katy Perry and being dropped by The Island Def Jam Music Group and Columbia Records, she signed a recording contract with Capitol Records in April 2007.
Prince Harry's plans to ditch King Charles' Coronation concert means he will also avoid an awkward run in with Katy Perry who is set to perform at the gig.
The Duke of Sussex will be present at the official crowning ceremony but has told his father he will not be staying for the weekend of celebrations afterwards. After the Coronation ceremony on May 6, Harry is arranging to hurry back home to California to be with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the Mirror reports.
The Duke will miss his son's fourth birthday, which falls on the same day as the Coronation, and will likely be eager to return home as soon as possible to celebrate.
Harry will also not get to see the highly anticipated musical extravaganza on May 7 at Windsor Castle but, fortunately for him, this means there won't be any awkward encounters with pop singer Katy Perry.
