Charles, Prince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948) is the heir apparent to the British throne as the eldest son of Elizabeth II. He has been Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay since 1952, and he is the oldest and longest-serving heir apparent in British history.
He is also the longest-serving Prince of Wales, having held that title since 1958. Charles was born at Buckingham Palace as the first grandchild of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. He was educated at Cheam and Gordonstoun schools, which his father, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, had attended as a child. Charles also spent a year at the Timbertop campus of Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, Australia.
Prince Harry reportedly sent Prince Charles a "deeply personal" letter ahead of his return to the UK to attend the funeral of Prince Philip. The 36 year old is said to have tried to contact his father in a bid to "set things straight" following his bombshell interview with talk show host Oprah Winfrey, where he and wife Meghan Markle, 39, made a series of allegations about the Royal Family.
However, the Duke of Sussex's attempt to mend his relationship with Prince Charles appears to have been in vain as a source told Mirror Online the 72 year old remains "very hurt" by his son's decision to go ahead with the chat, which aired in March while Philip was in hospital.
