ok.co.ukPrince Harry’s surprise return to the UK had ‘stunt written all over it’, a royal expert said. The Duke of Sussex’s attendance at London’s High Court was a “sure-fire way” to ensure his case against Associated Newspapers got “serious publicity”, commentator Daniela Elser added.
Ms Elser went on to say the trip could have also been an attempt by Harry, 38, to “make a splash” in the UK while King Charles was supposed to be on his first state visit to France - effectively stealing his father’s thunder.
As it transpired, the King’s trip to France was postponed amid the country's ongoing protests over retirement reforms. Harry flew to London on a solo visit on Monday for the four-day hearing of his privacy case against Daily Mail publisher Associated Newspapers over allegations of unlawful information gathering.
