dailyrecord.co.ukThe Duke and Duchess of Sussex have confirmed they have been evicted from Frogmore Cottage by King Charles.It's been reported the King decided to move Prince Harry and Meghan Markle out in a bid to make way for Prince Andrew who will take over the property.
The late Queen gifted Frogmore Cottage to Harry and Meghan in the months after their wedding back in 2018. A spokesperson for the Sussexes said: “We can confirm The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage."It has been claimed Buckingham Palace let the Duke and Duchess know about the plan to take away the property from them just days after Harry's tell-all memoir, Spare, was published worldwide in January.Despite the fact the couple moved Stateside in 2020 after stepping down as working royals, the Palace maintained that Frogmore Cottage was their official residence in the UK, and the Sussexes used it as a base when they returned to Britain over the past few years.
One royal biographer has been told the couple are 'stunned' by the turn of events and added the Sussexes relationship with the royals is at 'an all time low'.
According to Omid Scobie, one of the authors behind Harry and Meghan, Finding Freedom, the King's decision came after Harry released his controversial memoir Spare in January.He told Yahoo: "It’s news, sources tell me, that has left Harry and Meghan stunned, and at least two members of the Royal Family 'appalled'."A royal insider told The Sun: "This surely spells the end of Harry and Meghan’s time in the UK.
