Popular Orkney distillery launches new cafe and bar amid whisky expansion

A popular Scottish island distillery has launched a new dining destination.The family-owned Deerness Distillery on the Orkney Islands has opened its Dashing Deer Kitchen & Bar.

The "welcoming new space" celebrates the archipelago's rich food culture, while supporting the distillery's ambitions as Orkney's newest whisky distiller.Founded in 2016 by husband-and-wife team Stuart and Adelle Brown, Deerness Distillery will now serve up seasonal and locally sourced dishes at the café.

Dashing Deer Kitchen & Bar overlooks the picturesque island of Copinsay.The distillery's expansion also includes new fermentation tanks and mash tuns.

There are plans to collaborate with local farmers to source key ingredients for its distinct Orkney whisky.Stuart sees the destination as both a showcase for local producers and an extension of the distillery’s mission to honour Orkney’s resources.
