Police speak to Rishi Sunak's family after PM lets dog off its lead in Hyde Park

The Prime Minister's family were spoken to by police in London's Hyde Park after letting his dog off its lead. Rishi Sunak had been walking his labrador Nova with his family in the Royal Park on Saturday (March 11).

But close protection officers had to step in when Nova was set free - just yards from a sign urging owners to keep their dogs on a lead.

The Met Police said a woman had been spoken to about the incident, the Mirror reports. "We are aware of a video showing a dog being walked off the lead in Hyde Park," a Met Police spokesperson said. "An officer, who was present at the time, spoke to a woman and reminded her of the rules. The revelation comes two months after Mr Sunak was fined by Lancashire Police for failing to wear a seatbelt in a car.

He was also fined last year for attending a lockdown-busting gathering in No10. Downing Street refused to say if Mr Sunak would apologise for breaking the rules.
