Police shut road outside Greater Manchester hospital amid flooding chaos

A major road in Oldham has been closed by police following reports of a burst water main. Footage shared on social media appears to show a deluge of water gushing down Rochdale Road, outside Royal Oldham Hospital, this morning (Thursday).

The road has reportedly been closed from Sheepfoot Lane to Featherstall Road North. Police officers are on scene and directing traffic in the area.

Nick Burton, the owner of Burtons sandwich shop in Rochdale Road, said: "They have shut the road from Sheepfoot Lane and they are directing traffic down by the football ground. "A drain has gone outside the hospital and water is gushing down the road.
