Police shut down road amid recreation of tragic killing of Paisley pensioner George Johnston

Investigations into the death of Paisley pensioner George Johnston saw the tragic collision recreated in the town centre this morning.

The 88-year-old was killed in tragic circumstances on April 1 when two cars were involved in a smash that saw Mr Johnston’s mobility scooter struck to his severe injury.With almost two months having passed, police have still not charged anybody in connection with the incident and on Thursday morning they attempted to recreate the awful scene that led to the elderly man’s death to help them piece together what actually happened that cold, wet, and windy night.Gauze Street was shut for around an hour while they carried out their recreation, with no prior notice being given ahead of its closure.

Police remained tight-lipped when questioned by the Paisley Daily Express , but did say: "Officers carried out a reconstruction following a fatal crash which happened on Monday, April 1, 2024 at Gauze Street, Paisley."
